A new muscle-toning device, namely EMSCULPT, from Marlborough medical device firm BTL Industries previously approved for the abs, butt and thighs got the USFDA’s approval to help tone up the arms and calves.
Company’s newly unveiled Small Contour Applicator will allow the EMSCULPT to target these areas.
The company said that there is a growing demand from physicians and patients to bring the technology to other areas of the body.
The new device uses high intensity focused electro-magnetic technology to cause powerful muscle contractions which burn fat and tone muscle. The Small Contour Applicators are designed to target smaller muscle groups via a unique, ergonomic design and adjusted energy field.
The clinical trials study showed an increase in bicep and tricep muscle mass and fat reduction in two weeks after the fourth treatment. The volumetric muscle mass in the calves was also increased during the treatment.
The company also informed that the device is the only non-invasive treatment to get the FDA’s clearance to tone and strengthen the arms and calves.
