The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Swiss Pharma Nigeria Limited (swipha) as being compliant with the standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Swiss Pharma Nigeria Ltd. is the first pharmaceutical company in Nigeria to attain ISO 9001: 2000 certification and is engaged in manufacturing, marketing and distribution of pharmaceutical products to meet international standards. All the products of the company are subjected to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) for quality control.

WHO has announced Company’s GMP compliance in accordance with the inspection conducted in the facility. The inspectors have listed the observations in the Inspection Report based on the findings of the inspection. The Principal findings were summarized in the WHO Public Inspection Report (WHOPIR) of the Finished Product Manufacture. The company’s spokesperson said that Swipha is the first pharmaceutical manufacturer in Sub-Saharan West Africa, which had demonstrated an acceptable level of compliance with WHO GMP, among those evaluated by WHO PQT inspectors, thereby positioning the company to become a Nigerian Multi-national Pharmaceutical Manufacturer with top quality products for supply to the private sector, NGO and government clients globally.

The management and staff of Swiss Pharma Nigeria Limited pledges for continued commitment to quality or international standards and collaboration with National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in providing leadership towards safeguarding the health of the nation. As the company move ahead with the prequalification of one of its products, the kind support and patronage of the Federal Government, State Governments, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and the private sector would go a long way to maintaining Nigeria’s position amongst eleven countries in the world that can provide finished pharmaceutical products of this acceptable level of compliance with WHO GMP.
