Wockhardt’s Chikalthana plant at Aurangabad in Maharashtra has received a good manufacturing practice (GMP) certificate from the UK health regulator (MHRA) as post- inspection result.
"The company has undergone recently an inspection at its L1-Chikalthana, Aurangabad manufacturing facility by UK MHRA and has received a communication confirming the closure of the inspection and issuance of an unrestricted GMP certificate", Wockhardt said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange BSE.
Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency issues unrestricted good manufacturing practices certificate to Wockhardt’s Chikalthana plant. Getting a GMP certificate is a major relief to drug firm.
In October, the UK health regulator had completed inspection of Wockhardt’s plant at Chikalthana in Maharashtra without issuing any critical observations on the facility. Since 2013, two of Wockhardt’s manufacturing plants in Waluj and Chikalthana in Maharashtra have been under a US FDA import alert after the regulator found that these plants failed to comply with good manufacturing practices. Withdrawing the GMP certificate in October 2013, the UK regulator had also initiated recall of five prescription medicines from there.
The Shares of Wockhardt climbed over 3 per cent after the drug maker announced its Chikalthana manufacturing facility in Aurangabad has received an unrestricted GMP certificate from the UK drug regulator.
