FSSAI has made mandatory for all Food Business Operators to have at least one trained & certified person for every 25 food handlers in their business premises to ensure food safety. To implement this regulation FSSAI is planning Training & Certification through its new initiative of Food Safety Training & Certification Portal (FoSTaC) portal. The curriculum and content of training has been created centrally .As per regulation, “All the states/ union territories are now advised to initiate a special drive to take up and facilitate FoSTaC for licensed FBOs under their respective jurisdiction immediately. The above training is too be made mandatory in phases over the next two years.”
Following Courses have been designed for the purpose:
Level 1 : Basic; This course includes Street Food Vending, Catering, manufacturing /Processing and Storage.
Level 2: Advanced: This course includes Catering, Manufacturing/Processing and Storage.
Level 3: Special: This course includes Milk and Milk Products, Meat and Poultry, Fish and Sea Food, Packaged Water , Bakery and Edible Oil.
The training partners will include large food business operators that have partnered with the FSSAI, academic and vocational institutes, training partners approved under the Skill Development Councils and Missions, scientific and technology associations and civil society organisations.
IGMPI, Delhi NCR and Vadodara are one of the FSSAI approved training partners. IGMPI has promptly taken the initiative of integrating this FSSAI Food Safety Supervisor training with most of its food programmes and professional certifications.
