24Seven stores chain targets the nutrition market with the launch of plant-based sausages

India’s prime 24-hour convenience store chain, 24Seven, introduced plant-based hot dogs and sausages, targeting the burgeoning ‘smart protein’ category. The company collaborated with plant-based meats manufacturing company BVeg Foods, New Delhi, for the same.

These 100% vegetarian sausages are similar to non-vegetarian sausage in nutrition and taste. Plant-based meats are gen-next food innovations made entirely from plant ingredients. However, they replicate the taste, smell, and nutrition of animal meat. They offer non-vegetarians a simple switch that is far better for the environment and public health because they do not increase the risk of antibiotic resistance and zoonotic diseases such as swine flu and avian flu.
